Irish Lebanese Cultural Foundation, Kilkenny

Guy is the founding member of the Irish Lebanese Cultural Foundation in Ireland. The organisation was set up primarily to help Lebanese people living in Ireland and to build a stronger relationship between Ireland and Lebanon. The foundation also serves the function of promoting the cultures of Ireland and Lebanon. Following the last war in Lebanon, Guy was heavily involved in helping the children who lost their parents by organising trips to Ireland for them. Much of his time was also dedicated to fundraising for necessary medical equipment, clothing and household goods that could be used to assist in the recovery efforts. Guy has also attended several memorial ceremonies around Ireland dedicated to the many Irish soldiers killed in the service of peace with the UN overseas. He is also involved with a number of upcoming projects, including the publication of two books and the creation of an Irish literature studies centre in Lebanon and the first Lebanese Library in Ireland. His work to date, along with his clear commitment and dedication to helping people in Ireland and in Lebanon, has contributed greatly to strengthening the cultural ties between the two nations. Guy’s drive has been to encourage Irish Lebanese decent to behold their Arabic and Phoenician roots and be proud of their Irish Gaelic Heritage. He believes in the wisdom saying: ‘’you want a job done ask a busy person’’.
