Suzi WalshDogs in Distress, Dublin

Suzi is the puppy adoption co-ordinator for Dogs in Distress. In her role with the organisation, she collects puppies from pounds such as Ashton Pound in Dublin and advertises them for adoption through the Dogs in Distress website. Suzi often spends in excess of 40 hours a week organising the pups in the care of Dogs in Distress. In addition to arranging home visits to ensure that all pups go to a suitable home, she assists with the pup adoption paperwork as well as regularly arranging health checks and transportation of the dogs and pups. Suzi’s dedication to the pups at Dogs in Distress is evident in her willingness to compile public information sheets on animal safety, dietary requirements and neutering & spaying, as well as regularly giving of her own time to travel to schools to inform the younger generations about how to care for a pup. Suzi also regularly liases with Dogs Trust UK to assist them in rehoming dogs in the UK that may be overlooked here in Ireland.  Suzi’s contribution to Dogs in Distress has helped over 1200 pups in 2008 alone, a figure that she hopes to surpass this year! “You might not be able to change the world for every dog but you might change the whole world of one dog”, says Suzi. “I would like to thank any one that I have cancelled nights out, dates and family occasions for in order to rescue dogs and anyone involved in animal rescue who knows whats its like to have the best day and the worst day all in 24 hours”.
